WEATHERWATCH 12. WE BEGIN AT TEN WITH A PERSON DEAD AT THE HYATT HOTEL IN DOWNTOWN MILWAUKEE. POLICE RESPONDING TO THE HOTEL AT DOCTOR MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE IN KILBOURN AVENUE THIS AFTERNOON. POLICE WERE ON SCENE INVESTIGATING FOR HOURS IN FRONT OF THE HYATT REGENCY DOWNTOWN AFTER A MAN DIED IN FRONT OF THE FRONT DOORS. HE’S NOT GOING TO MAKE IT. VIDEO OBTAINED BY 12 NEWS SHOWS EMERGENCY CREWS ATTEMPTING TO RESUSCITATE A MAN OUTSIDE THE HYATT HOTEL AT MARTIN LUTHER KING DRIVE AND KILBOURN AVENUE SUNDAY AFTERNOON. AND YOU SAID YOU WERE JUST WALKING BY. I WAS WALKING PAST ON MY WAY TO WALGREENS. SEAN MOORE SAW FIRST RESPONDERS TRYING TO SAVE THE MAN. AROUND 3:30 P.M. WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED, THE POLICE TOOK OVER. UM, THEY TRIED TO REVIVE HIM. UM, UNFORTUNATELY, THAT DIDN’T WORK. AND YEAH, FOR THE NEXT 10 TO 15 MINUTES, THEY WERE PUMPING HIS CHEST. THE MEDICAL EXAMINER CONFIRMS TO 12 NEWS THE MAN DIED AT THE SCENE. MILWAUKEE POLICE HAVE NOT ANSWERED ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHAT LED UP TO THE MAN’S DEATH. AS OF SUNDAY NIGHT, BUT 12 NEWS HAS LEARNED HOTEL STAFF WERE TELLING GUESTS A PERSON CAME IN AND WAS A NUISANCE TO PEOPLE IN THE HOTEL. WHAT COULD YOU TELL OF HIS INJURIES? WELL, HE HAD A HE HAD A A CUT ON HIS HEAD. IT WAS BLEEDING. THE HOTEL’S GENERAL MANAGER, IN A STATEMENT TO 12 NEWS, SAYS, QUOTE, WE ARE DEEPLY SADDENED BY THIS SITUATION AND OUR THOUGHTS GO OUT TO THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN AFFECTED. THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF OUR GUESTS AND COLLEAGUES REMAINS A TOP PRIORITY, AND WE’RE ASSISTING LOCAL AUTHORITIES WITH THEIR INVESTIGATION IN MILWAUKEE, EMILY POFAHL, WISN 12 NEWS. A man died outside of Milwaukee's Hyatt Regency Hotel Sunday. Witnesses at the scene say authorities locked down the area of Dr. M.L.K. Jr Drive and Kilbourn Avenue around 3:30 p.m. WISN 12 News learned Hyatt staff told guests a person came in and was being a nuisance to people at the hotel. The Milwaukee Medical Examiner identified the 43-year-old man as Dvontaye L. Mitchell and said his death is being investigated as a homicide. Police say the case remains under investigation but, at the moment, is not a criminal investigation.Video obtained by WISN 12 News shows emergency crews trying to resuscitate the person, who appears to be a man, outside the hotel's front entrance but later covered the person with a tarp. The Medical Examiner's Office confirms someone died.WISN 12 learned the hotel is still open.
